The Huntsville Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and the Gospel Theatre of Birmingham will bring to Huntsville “Don’t Let This Harvest Pass” a Christian message for today’s youth. It is scheduled for Saturday, August 19th with two shows; Matinee at 2 p.m. and an Evening show at 6 p.m. at the Lee High School Theatre. For more information and/or tickets click here. Concerts in the Park presented by Arts Huntsville and Huntsville Parks and Recreation, returns every Monday starting June 5th through August 7th! The FREE concerts will be held in downtown Huntsville on the Huntsville Museum of Art outdoor stage in Big Spring International Park from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The concert series will showcase local musicians from jazz, latin, Americana, rock and roll, pop and top 40. The series is free to the public and concertgoers should bring their own seating. Leashed pets are welcome.
Alabama A&M University will observe its 142nd Annual Founder's Day and annual Class Reunion Celebration Weekend May 4th - May 7th. Several activities are planned for Alumni and friends of the University as they return to campus to celebrate the life and legacy of William Hooper Councill and to participate in Class Reunion events. A few weekend events include Founder's Day Convocation, Founder's Gravesite Service, campus walking tour, individual class reunion parties, Awards and Scholarship Luncheon and Worship Service and Memorial Walk.
On Friday, April 28th, Alabama A&M University will host the 17th Annual Black Tie Scholarship Gala. This year's event will take place in the Von Braun Center North Hall at 6:30 p.m. Guests, dressed in their black tie best, will enjoy an elegant evening of dining and entertainment by Grammy nominated, singer, songwriter Alvin Garrett. The Black Tie Scholarship Gala will highlight scholarship recipients and recognize businesses, organizations and individuals in the community that show continued support to the University and its students.
The Academic Honors Convocation provides an opportunity for Alabama A&M University to recognize hundreds of student scholars for their academic achievement. The distinguished students will be acknowledged during the 2017 Academic Honors Convocation scheduled for Thursday, April 6th at 12:30 p.m. in the T.M. Elmore Building. At center stage will be all students on the Dean's List, Freshman's Dean's List, Honor Roll, Freshman's President's Award List and students receiving the President's Medallion.
Alabama A&M University Alumni Association will host a Virtual Town Hall Meeting with President Andrew Hugine Jr. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 30th at 6:30 p.m. central time. AAMU Graduates will have the opportunity to listen in the comfort of their own home by telephone or online to receive information that most matters to them. Graduates were to submit their questions by March 27th. The meeting will be moderated by Alumni Association President Albert Benifield. All phone lines will be muted.
The First Lady's Scholarship Initiative Luncheon event, spearheaded by Alabama A&M University First Lady Abbiegail Hugine, is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Ernest L. Knight Reception Center on the campus of Alabama A&M University. This initiative is to provide deserving students in obtaining an education at Alabama A&M University that will make a life long impact in the community.
Tickets are $40 each and a reserved table of 10 is $500.
