For over two decades, “Microwave” Dave Gallaher has been an instrumental part of the music scene in the Tennessee Valley. He is a recording and performing artist and also serves as the front man for Microwave Dave and the Nukes. Microwave Dave is also very active in the community as he teaches music classes to local youth and supports music education in area schools through The Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation. Currently, Microwave Dave is the host WJAB’s  “Talkin the Blues” which can be heard Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On May 26, 2015, Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle officially proclaimed June 28, 2015 “Microwave Dave Day.”  A concert was held to honor his continuous support of social and musical contributions to the community over the years. During the event, Dave received a key to the city from Mayor Tommy Battle.

This year, Sunday, June 25th, Huntsville will honor the beloved blues guitarist with the 3rd Annual “Microwave Dave Day” with the theme “Dancing in the Street.” It will take place on Washington Street, Downtown Huntsville from 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. There will be performances from local musicians, including Microwave Dave and The Nukes.
