AAMU Fills Key Cabinet Position

Alabama A&M University President Andrew Hugine, Jr., has announced the individual who will fill the cabinet post of Vice President for Marketing, Communications and Advancement, a key post that encompasses fundraising, alumni affairs, electronic media communications, public relations, and print/mail.

Archie Tucker, II, who has served in the role of interim vice president since 2014 began the position of Vice President on Wednesday, March 1.

Prior to joining AAMU in 2011 as director of development and later as assistant vice president, Tucker served as the chief development officer at Mississippi Valley State University, his alma mater, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration.  He also held posts at Coahoma Community College and Delta State University, where he received an MBA.

Tucker is affiliated with various civic organizations from local to international, including but not limited to the following:  Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) as a former District III board member and HBCU Taskforce Chair; Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) as a former board member for the North Alabama Chapter and international chapter support committee; and Leadership Huntsville Focus Class 25 and Connect Class 15 graduate.  He was awarded AFP’s North Alabama Fundraiser of the Year in 2015.  Tucker holds the Certificate in Fund Raising Management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis.   

Tucker is a native of Leland, Miss.  He and his wife Veronica are the parents of two sons, Jordan and Austin.
